RESERVOIR WHARF INSPECTION, WALLISVILLE, TX
In-depth inspection for the
timber guide walls at the Wallisville Reservoir
Lock structure. Project included inspection of the timber piles, timber walers, timber sidewalk, and all hardware and
connections. Prepared written report which included field findings, pile
ratings and conditions, photographs, and maintenance recommendations.
PORTSMOUTH MARINE
TERMINAL, PORTSMOUTH, VA
Design of 7-Acre Container Cargo Storage Facility,
all in accordance with the Capital-Outlay Manual, VPA requirements and other
State Agency procedures. Work included stormwater
management, drainage design, preparation of
preliminary plans, final contract documents, cost estimate, soil erosion and
sediment control plans, and coordination of electrical work.
WHARF #26 DECK REPAIRS, PORT OF HOUSTON, TX
Design of repairs needed for damaged deck and beam
on Wharf 26 at bents 16 and 22 for the Port of Houston.
Work involved inspection of the damaged areas on the deck and underside of
the deck due to cranes. Construction drawings, specifications and estimate
were provided.
DESIGN OF RAILROAD TRESTLE, PORT ARTHUR, TX
Design of approximately 700-ft. long pile
supported trestle with precast prestressed box
units to carry Cooper E80 loading. Spans consisted of 20-ft. precast, prestressed concrete units supported on prestressed pile bents, subjected to wind, wave and other
loads.
PORT OF HOUSTON, SIMS BAYOU DOCK, FENDER REPLACEMENT, HOUSTON, TX
Fender replacement that was damaged. Work includes
replacement of a 3 pile fender. Complete construction drawings,
specifications and estimate will be provided.
SABINE RIVER FENDERING SYSTEM,
ORANGE, TX
Design of fendering
system for bridge piers as required by the Coast Guard. The fendering system consisted of 8 concrete filled steel
piles along with steel H piles connected with Wale beams.
NEWPORT
NEWS CRUISE TERMINAL, NEWPORT NEWS, VA
Design of entrance building structure for Newport
News Cruise Terminal, for converting a general cargo pier into a passenger
cruise terminal, all in accordance with the Virginia Port Authority requirements.
The structure consisted of a 2-storied steel-frame building anchored in
concrete cap supported on prestressed piles.
DOW BARGE CANAL FENDERING
SYSTEM, CLUTE, TX
Design of fendering
system for bridge piers as required by the Coast Guard and Dow chemical
plant. The fendering system consisted of 8 concrete
filled steel piles along with steel H piles connected with Wale beams.

Underwater inspection of six New Jersey DOT
bridges. Project included inspection of piles, preparation of final report,
photographs, and maintenance recommendations
MANHATTAN BRIDGE, NEW YORK, NY
In-depth inspection of the submerged port ions of
the Brooklyn and Manhattan Towers in the East River using surface supply and
hard hat diving. The inspection consisted of evaluating for the presence of
scour and the foundation integrity of the existing structures and
preparation.
VERRAZANO-NARROWS
BRIDGE, NEW YORK, NY
Condition inspection with
video of the two towers and an adjacent sea wall which surrounded the piers
using surface supply and hard hat diving. Work involved underwater cleaning
and a fathometer survey of the Narrows
channel. Preparation of the inspection report.
THROGS NECK BRIDGE
- NEW YORK, NY
In-depth inspection to
evaluate for the presence of scour and the foundation integrity of 36 bridge
piers. Surface supply and hard hat diving was used. This project also
entailed the performance of a fathometer survey of the river channel.
BIENNIAL/INTERIM
INSPECTION OF REGION 11 ARTERIAL BRIDGES, NJ
Inspection of seven bridges, the fender systems
and other associated structures using both scuba and surface supply hard hat
diving. The inspection consisted of evaluating the presence of scour, the foundation of integrity of the existing inspection reports were
prepared and fathometer surveys of the channel bottoms were performed at two
of the bridge sites.
APSHAWA
MAIN AND AUXILIARY DAMS, WEST
MILFORD, NJ
Inspection of the ea rthfill
and rockfill with concrete core dams using scuba
diving. The sub-aqueous inspection consisted of evaluation for the presence
of undermining, scour, the foundation integrity and seepage of the existing
dams, conforming to the New Jersey Dam Safety Manual requirements. The
underwater inspection was performed as part of AIA's overall work developing
design and construction plans for the rehabilitation of the two dams
impounding Butler Reservoir in West
Milford, New Jersey.
ROUTE
21 BRIDGE INSPECTIONS, BELLEVILLE, NJ
Inspection of three highway
bridges over the Passaic River and one of its tributaries in Belleville, New
Jersey for structural integrity and the presence of
scour. Preparation of inspection reports in accordance with New Jersey
Department of Transportation criteria.
WATERSIDE PLAZA, MANHATTAN, NY
Inspection performed for the
Homeowners Assn. of Waterside Plaza in Manhattan
of the concrete piles that support the building complex and fender system in
the East River. The inspection was carried
out using surface supply hard hat diving. The results of the inspection were documented
using underwater video taping/continuous voice
recording and 35mm photography.

PARK CITY, NORTH COVE, NEW YORK, NY
Inspection of the piers and
fender system along the North Cove in Battery Park City in lower Manhattan,
for deterioration and the presence of marine borers.
STORM
DAMAGE ASSESSMENT, HOBOKEN
TERMINAL WATERFRONT
Emergency inspection and
documentation of damage of NJ Transit marine facilities along the Hoboken
Waterfront following the December 18, 1992 "Nor'easter". AIA was
required to provide safety assessments prior to reopening some of the
facilities for public use.
